Change and growth is around us! From sprouting seeds just starting to grow to decades old trees continuing to bloom and flourish. Gardeners might start to notice weeds growing, which they pull- but it’s also important for them to water what they want to have grow.

Change and growth is also within us. With intentionality, we can choose how we respond to the weeds of life- the things that annoy us, the things we don’t like, the things that get us stuck. We can also choose what we grow- do we want to water our relationships? Our strengths? Our dreams? Our values?

With intentionality, each day presents choice. There may be days where we feel we have no water for watering or nothing we want to grow. There may be days when the weeds feel overwhelming and hard to see through. On those days, even just a drop of water with a sprinkle of hope of what may come can be meaningful. Sitting in the weeds and letting them be weeds, acknowledging that’s all they are- they’re annoying and unwanted, but they don’t change who you are- can also bring acceptance and letting go.

What do you hope will grow this spring? Therapy can help with intentionality around growth and being able to sit in the weeds, without drowning in them.
